We know you probably all have a bunch of questions about our new contract. We’ll answer them as we can when we get the information.

Q-When will I get retro pay?
A-Anything related to money is to be paid out within 90 days. Clock started on June 13.

Q-When does the new collective agreement take effect?
A-As soon as it is signed by both parties. They are currently ensuring all the wording is correct before finalizing it.

Q-Are terms getting the 11% raise also?
A-Absolutely

Q-Are terms getting the $500 signing bonus?
A-For the first * time *ever, YES! 👏👏

Q-I am a part time assistant in a long term acting assignment of 40hrs, will I get $1000 or $500
A-The bonus will be paid in accordance with the position you owned, not the one you were working in, on June 13, 2025.

Q-Is the signing bonus only for new employees when they sign their letter of offer?
A-No, the signing bonus shall be paid to employees who were employed with the Corporation on June 13.

Q-I am a 26 hour a week postmaster, do I get $1000 or $500
A-ALL postmasters receive $1000

Q-Is it true that terms get first pick of available hours and acting assignments in their home office?
A-Before, to replace the full shift of a postmaster or senior assistant, it had to be offered 1- part time of the office 2-letters of interest 3-continuous service terms of the office 4-non continuous service terms of the office.
-With the new contract it will now be 1-part time assistant of the office 2- continuous service term of the office 3-letters of interest 4-non continuous service terms of the office. That is a HUGE win for our continuous service terms.

Q-Is the moratorium on office closures lifted?
A-Moratorium is not a CPC decision. That’s a government thing. It can only be voted in chamber by our MPs. Get those letters mailed to your MPs !!

Q-Why is the contract only for 3 years?
A-The only reason for a 3 year contract is to separate our negotiations from the other bargaining units within the corporation.

Q-When will I get my copy of the new collective agreement?
A-As soon as the legal jargon is finalized and the contract is signed, we will all get a link to the new CA. Paper copies will be available later upon request

At this time, we can only give brief explanations as we are waiting for legal to finalize the contract. Detailed explanations will only be available once we have the actual contract in hand
