Great news! Our Collective Agreement now includes the Child Care Fund! You can find the language in the online versions of the Collective Agreement Appendix “S” on our Website.
Being the first year for this fund, the newly appointed CPAA committee must establish a fund mandate, define objectives, setting expenditure guidelines and is currently developing the criteria, guidelines, application form to complete and implementation schedule under the terms of this fund.
This is designed to help members with costs relating to the care of their dependents. It will be open to members that meet the criteria who have costs related to child care for their children, their grandchildren (for whom the employee provides the primary financial and residential support), or their adult children with special needs who are dependent on their parents for care.
CPC has provided the funding, while CPAA will be administering this fund. This fund can be used for, but is not limited to, subsidizing childcare service costs. The payments will be allocated retroactively to subsidize or help with childcare expenses from the previous year. Since the fund was officially established on September 11, 2025, the first disbursements are expected in 2026, retroactive to September 11, 2025. Looking ahead, we anticipate that payouts for 2026 will be issued in 2027, and so on.
