Question: I am on approved personal days. Can I be called back into work? Do I get compensated for that?

Answer: Article 25.12 says that non-urgent personal days are approved subject to operational requirements. Meaning, that as the Postmaster, you could be called back into work if the situation changes. We would suggest that you discuss with your LAS about possibly finding an alternative solution. Refer to Article 22.12 for when this question refers to Vacation leave

Question: My Uncle passed away. Can I use Bereavement leave to attend the funeral?

Answer: Article 26.06 refers to this and uses the term “immediate family”. Under Article 2.01 (m), the definition of Immediate family is given. Unfortunately, Aunt/Uncle are not included in that leave. In this case you could still put in a request for paid leave using personal time or vacation leave.

Question: How to become a continuous term employee? Are there any benefits?

Answer: To gain “continuous”, you must work 1 time every 7 days for 6 months. Once this is achieved you should receive notice from Access HR. You will be entitled to such things as Acting Pay (a complete list is found Article 50.05). Once this status is achieved, you will need to work 1 time every 30 days to maintain it. It is important if you are taking leave, that it gets inputted properly and on time by your pay hub. If you don’t meet the requirements, you will lose that status and will start fresh
